During their industry panel at Otakon 2026, AnimEigo confirmed a significant expansion of their home video catalog for 2027. The distributor plans to bring several notable titles to Blu-ray, led by the 12-episode adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga’s acclaimed manga, Antique Bakery.
Originally released in 2008, Antique Bakery follows the complex interpersonal dynamics within a high-end patisserie, featuring a world-class pastry chef reuniting with his high school crush. While the series saw previous DVD releases through Nozomi Entertainment over a decade ago, this upcoming Blu-ray release marks a return to physical media for the series.
Beyond Antique Bakery, the 2027 slate includes a diverse mix of genres, ranging from the theatrical feature A Dog of Flanders: The Movie to the character-driven drama ReLIFE. The announcement also highlighted cult favorites such as the fantasy adventure Ruin Explorers: Fam & Ihrie and the surreal psychological series Welcome to Irabu's Office. These acquisitions demonstrate a continued focus on preserving and re-releasing titles that have maintained dedicated fanbases over the years.
