Amata Games has confirmed that its new horror visual novel, Shinjuku Anomaly, will arrive on Steam this week on September 30. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the game's atmospheric setting and core gameplay loop.
In the title, players step into the role of a night-shift photographer tasked with documenting supernatural anomalies throughout Shinjuku. The gameplay revolves around a strict set of instructions: locate the anomalies, capture clear photographs, maintain a safe distance, and return to the agency once the film supply is exhausted. The game will launch with support for English, Japanese, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese.
Beyond this original project, the developer is currently working on the virtual reality adaptation Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies VR. That title is slated for a 2027 debut on Meta Quest and the newly announced Meta VR Glasses, featuring an expanded list of language options including French, German, and Korean.
