The whimsical mystery novel Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story (Akazukin, Tabi no Tochū de Shitai to Deau) is officially heading to the small screen in 2027. The project’s newly launched website unveiled a teaser trailer and visual, offering a first look at the series’ unique take on classic fairy tale tropes.
Leading the cast are Yume Miyamoto, who will voice the titular Red Riding Hood, and Akira Sekine, cast as Pinocchio. The production is helmed by director Itsurō Kawasaki, known for Baban Baban Ban Vampire, who is also handling the series scripts at studio Benten Film. The visual department features a strong team, with character designs by Manami Minakata and Yūko Yahiro, alongside art directors Izumi Hoki and Hiroshi Katō.
Originally published by Futabasha in 2020, the story follows Red Riding Hood as she embarks on a journey, only to find herself repeatedly entangled in criminal mysteries. Armed with sharp intuition, she applies her wit to solve cases that disrupt the traditional fairy tale world. The property previously saw a manga adaptation by Tanakanoka, which concluded in 2025 after serialized runs in Monthly Action and Web Action.
