Veteran voice actor Rif Hutton passed away Saturday at his Pasadena home following a battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. He was 73.
Hutton lent his voice to a wide array of animated projects, including significant roles in Astro Boy, The Wind Rises, and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. His other animated credits include Osmosis Jones, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and The Twits, as well as the Sonic the Hedgehog film.
Beyond animation, Hutton had a substantial television career, appearing in series such as Doogie Howser, M.D., JAG, The Shield, and General Hospital. His live-action filmography features credits in Emily the Criminal and Rattled!.
Diagnosed with glioblastoma in March 2025, Hutton became an advocate for the National Brain Tumor Society, participating in their Southern California Brain Tumor Walk. He was also an active participant in the 2023 SAG-ASTRA strike. He was married to voice actress Bridget Hoffman.
