The production team for Ace of Diamond Act II Second Season has released a new promotional video, offering fans a first look at the musical direction for the anime's upcoming second cour. The video highlights the new opening theme, "NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN," performed by the rock band GLAY, alongside the ending theme, "ROAD TO BE BLUE," from the musical duo OxT.
This second cour is scheduled to debut on October 11, with broadcasts slated for TV Tokyo and AT-X, followed by a streaming release on Netflix in Japan. The production continues under the direction of Hideaki Ōba at studio OLM, with Kenji Konuta returning to oversee series composition. The cast remains largely consistent with previous installments, though the production confirmed the addition of Daisuke Sakuma, who will voice the character Shinichiro Saotome.
While the anime franchise has a long history of international availability—with previous seasons streamed by Crunchyroll—the manga source material by Yūji Terajima is also seeing renewed English-language attention. Mad Cave Studios' Nakama Press imprint is set to begin releasing the original manga in a 3-in-1 omnibus format starting in March 2027.
With the shift to the second cour, the series continues to adapt the later stages of Terajima’s long-running baseball saga. Given the change in key staff roles—including the transition to director Hideaki Ōba and character designer Yasukazu Shōji—how do you feel the visual identity of this season compares to the earlier Madhouse-produced entries in the franchise?
