The festival announced its award recipients over Friday and Saturday, with A New Dawn taking home the Contrechamp Jury Award. The television series Takopi's Original Sin earned the Jury Award for a TV Series.
A New Dawn, a collaboration between ASMIK Ace and French studio Miyu Productions, had its Japanese theatrical release on March 6, after an initial delay. The film's creative team includes direction, story conception, and scriptwriting by Yoshitoshi Shinomiya, character design by Utsushita, and music by Shūta Hasunuma. imase performs the theme song "Aoba."
The six-episode Takopi's Original Sin anime premiered in 2025 on platforms including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Shinya Iino, the series is based on Taizan 5's manga and features character designs by Keita Nagahara. The anime, produced by ENISHIYA, also has a compilation film planned titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatō, Mata Ashita-.
The Annecy festival featured a wide array of Japanese animation, including competition entries like NOTHING NEW and We Are Aliens, as well as TV series such as Sparks of Tomorrow. Science SARU's new The Ghost in the Shell television anime also held its global premiere at the event.
