Twin Engine has unveiled a special trailer for Gekijōban Mononoke Dai-San-Shō: Hebigami (Mononoke the Movie: Chapter 3: Snake God), the concluding film in the franchise's movie trilogy. The trailer offers viewers a glimpse of the unique horror that awaits, mixing footage from the prior installments with new scenes from the upcoming chapter.
The story picks up after the Medicine Seller's battles in the previous films. Empress Sachiko's joy over a new heir is overshadowed by her death, leading to a terrifying plot within the Ooku (the imperial women's quarters) that threatens its very existence. As resentment brews, unnatural events and gruesome deaths occur, culminating in the appearance of a colossal snake-like Mononoke. The Medicine Seller must then uncover the creature's form, truth, and reason to defeat it, a quest that delves into the Ooku's dark history from 150 years prior.
Returning to voice the central Medicine Seller is Hiroshi Kamiya. The film also welcomes new cast members, including Miyuki Sawashiro as the Third Empress, Fumi Hirano as Tokiwai, Mariko Honda as Kawa, Yukana as Amanotsubone, and Eiji Takemoto as Saku Mizorogi. Kenji Nakamura serves as general director, with Tomoaki Koshida directing the film at Studio Kafka and EOTA. Aina The End is set to perform the theme song, titled "No Epilogue."
The first film, Mononoke The Movie: Phantom in the Rain, premiered in July 2024 and is available on Netflix. The second film, Mononoke the Movie Trilogy: Chapter 2: The Ashes of Rage, opened in March 2025. The original Mononoke TV anime, a spin-off of Ayakashi - Samurai Horror Tales, originally aired in 2007. Mononoke the Movie: Chapter 3: Snake God is scheduled to premiere in Japan on May 29.
