That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea has unveiled a new trailer showcasing its action-packed sequences. The trailer, available with English dub and subtitled Japanese audio, previews the upcoming film's conflict.
Crunchyroll has secured the worldwide theatrical distribution rights for the film, which is slated to premiere in the United States, Canada, the U.K., and Ireland on May 1. The English dub features returning cast members, with Brittney Karbowski reprising her role as Rimuru Tempest, alongside Allegra Clark as Yura and Christopher Corey Smith as Zodon.
The film originally premiered in Japan on February 27, where it debuted at #3 and earned approximately $1.91 million in its first three days. The story follows Rimuru and Tempest officials on a vacation to the elf nation of Sarion, which is disrupted by the appearance of a mysterious girl named Yura and a looming darkness.
Animation for the film was handled by 8-Bit, the same studio behind the ongoing fourth season of the television series. The franchise, which began as a manga adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah's light novels, boasts a strong following, with the original TV anime holding an 8.13 score on MyAnimeList from nearly one million voters.
