That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea debuted at ninth place in the United States box office, grossing $1 million over its opening weekend. The second film in the popular franchise screened in 837 theaters nationwide starting Friday.

Crunchyroll distributed the film internationally, launching it simultaneously in Canada, the U.K., and Ireland. The movie had a strong showing in Japan earlier this year, opening at number three and earning approximately $1.91 million in its first three days.

The plot picks up after the formation of the Tempest Federation, with Rimuru and other Tempest leaders invited to a resort in the elf nation of Sarion. Their vacation is interrupted by the appearance of a mysterious girl named Yura and an encroaching darkness, forcing Rimuru to face a new danger. The animation was handled by Studio 8-Bit, with music contributions from TRUE, Saori Ōnishi, ARCANA PROJECT, and STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION.

As one of the most popular isekai series, with the original TV anime holding an 8.13 score on MyAnimeList from nearly one million voters, the film's box office performance in North America adds another milestone to the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise.
