The official YouTube channel for New Sgt. Frog the Movie: The Earth Is in Mortal Peril as Soon as We Come Back! has unveiled the film's opening scene. This 20th-anniversary project for the popular franchise will premiere in Japan on June 26.
The newly released opening scene offers a nostalgic nod to the original series, incorporating footage presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The film boasts a notable guest cast, including Jesse from the idol group SixTONES, who lends his voice to the new characters Aruru and Deruru, brothers from planet Keron with ties to Sgt. Frog's unit. Singer ano and comedian Soshina, who are performing the opening theme "Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH," also contribute as guest voice actors, playing a researcher robot and a "man in Shibuya," respectively.
Additional guest cast members include Tomokazu Seki as Warrior #7, Natsuki Hanae as Alien, Kōichi Yamadera as Space Police Chief, Keigo Satō and Yūsei Yagi as Shibuya Men, Suzanne as the Kumamoto Announcer, and Rina Watanabe as a Shibuya Woman. Yūichi Fukuda serves as supervising director and scriptwriter, with Fumitoshi Oizaki directing the anime at Bandai Namco Pictures and Satoshi Koike handling character design. ano is also set to perform the film's second theme song, "Kashippanashi Destiny."
In related news, an entirely new Sgt. Frog television anime series, titled Keroro Gunsō ☆, is scheduled to debut in Fall 2026. This upcoming TV series will feature a completely new cast, distinguishing it from the anniversary film which retains the original franchise cast. The earlier Sgt. Frog anime series, which ran from 2004 to 2011 and spawned five films, is available on Crunchyroll and has been released on Blu-ray by Discotek Media.
