The South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency have narrowed the field for the 2026 World Webtoon Awards. Following a nomination process that saw over 7,000 fan submissions, 20 titles have been selected to compete for top honors. The list of finalists includes prominent titles such as Omniscient Reader, Lookism, and The Greatest Estate Developer.

This year marks the third iteration of the event, and for the first time, the competition introduces a cash prize structure to recognize creators. The grand prize recipient will be awarded 15 million won, while the Judges' Award and other main category winners will receive 13 million and 10 million won, respectively. The final results will be determined by a balanced scoring system, split evenly between professional judging and public input.

Interested readers can cast their ballots on the official World Webtoon Awards website through October 19. The winners will be announced during a ceremony on December 3 at the Starfield Library in Seoul, serving as a centerpiece for the broader World Webtoon Festival held from December 2 to 6.

With several of these finalists already boasting significant international followings and existing adaptations, the inclusion of a global vote highlights the industry's push to quantify the reach of webtoons beyond domestic markets. It remains to be seen how much the new cash prize structure will influence future submission volume in coming years.
