Game streamer Retort has been cast in the upcoming 33rd film of the Crayon Shin-chan series, titled Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Kikikaikai! Ora no Yōkai Bake-shon. Retort will voice Yōkai Dashimaki Shinpan, a yōkai who serves as the umpire for a baseball game between Shin-chan's friends and the Edomae Sushies team.
The story follows the Nohara family as they travel to Hiroshi's hometown in Akita for a fireworks festival. Their trip takes a turn when yōkai escape their realm and cause chaos across Japan, leading the family on an adventure into the mysterious yōkai land. The film also features Sairi Itō as the nine-tailed fox yōkai Yako and Sakamoto as the Squid Yōkai, a first-base player for the Edomae Sushies.
Directed by Masaki Watanabe with a script by Yoshiko Nakamura, the film is produced by Shinei Animation, TV Asahi, ADK Emotions, and Futabasha, with TOHO handling distribution. The theme song, "Otona ni Nattara," is performed by singer TOMOO. The film is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on July 31.
