Publisher Clear River Games has announced a new collection bringing the first two entries of the classic Lufia RPG series to modern hardware. The bundle, titled Lufia 1 and 2 The Sinistrals Saga, will feature the original 1993 title Lufia & the Fortress of Doom alongside its 1995 prequel, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. The collection is slated for a 2027 release across Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
The announcement, accompanied by a reveal trailer, highlights the narrative scope of both titles. The first game follows the descendant of a legendary hero, while the prequel focuses on the journey of Maxim, the man whose legend serves as the foundation for the series' lore. These titles were originally developed by Taito and Quintet, marking a significant return for the cult-classic franchise.
This release follows Clear River Games' recent push to modernize classic RPGs, as the publisher is also set to release the 1995 title Terranigma on January 14 for a wide range of platforms, including Xbox Series X|S and GOG. While the Lufia series previously saw a Nintendo DS reimagining with 2010's Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals, this new collection marks the first time the original SNES iterations have been bundled for current-generation systems. With the 2027 window still distant, it remains to be seen if this collection will include the same quality-of-life features currently being implemented for the upcoming Terranigma port.
